Location and climate
The game farm and hunting lodge is perfectly positioned in a malaria-free zone of Southern Africa. Thorndale Safari is in the heart of the Eastern Cape, 100 km north of Port Elizabeth.
The regional climate is moderate throughout the year, ensuring our hunting season is open all year round. For hunters specifically seeking to visit during our cooler months, it is recommended that safaris be planned between March and October.
Winter temperatures average between 10°C and 22°C. Summer months range between 18°C and 36°C.
After the Hunt
Our hunting lodge is within close proximity to a variety of popular tourism destinations within the Eastern Cape provides guests with the opportunity to further experience our beautiful and diverse region. For those who are truly adventurous, the Thorndale team will be more than willing to arrange deep-sea fishing, elephant-back safaris or trips down the scenic Garden Route to our famous wine farms. The area also offers a varied list of attractions including scenic nature trails, historic heritage, cultural experiences and countless water sport activities.
Miles of unspoilt coastline stretches endlessly and will leave even the well-travelled adventurer breathless. The Sunshine Coast stretches from Tsitsikamma to East London and offers no less than four internationally-recognised, Blue Flag beaches for those choosing to enjoy the year-round sunshine.
Nestled among citrus trees on the tranquil banks of the Sundays River Valley lies the Casa Mia Health Spa. For those interested in retail therapy, Port Elizabeth offers an impressive array of restaurants, shops, speciality stores as well as endless entertainment for younger guests. The Daniell Cheetah Breeding Project in Kirkwood is a fun family attraction.
